The Hang Drum

Some time ago I was on a grand opening from a creative space project from my girlfriend here in Amsterdam. And what I noticed out of all the colorful spectacle were the sounds of an instrument I had never heard. Curious, I followed my ears and came closer to the magical sounds that came from somewhere and eventually I came out in a Yoga hall where a guy (Davide SWARUP)  was playing on a UFO-like metal device,  playing softly ….

I was almost listening  breathless to him. It looks like a steel drum, but that is a scale and it sounds a little simple and childish compared to the drum. It proved to be a Hang Drum and it looks like an inverted steel drum. And the sounds are magic .. to get goosebumps.

So I did some research.  but to my great disappointment there are little Hang Drums for sale. They are rare and only in very small numbers manually produced mainly by a Swiss company Pan-Art. They have since developed in 1998 by Felix Rohner and Sabina Scharer and by the manual method very limited available.
